LED rope lights offer new lighting opportunities.

Some of us still remember to old-style string lights. Large individual colored bulbs in solitary sockets, on an electric strand that adorned Christmas trees, railings, and rooftops. While there are versions of these string lights still available, albeit with smaller bulbs, the new string lights are LED rope lights. These indoor/outdoor lights are useful for many different holiday and landscaping projects.

Dust, water, dirt, and snow would find its way into the sockets, causing the bulb to blow or the wiring to short out. With the old strands, if one bulb didn’t work, then entire strand didn’t work.

This durability makes them perfect for outdoor projects. Homes and businesses use them to line walkways to make walking at night less dangerous. Stakes and clips are available to secure the LED rope lights, and their casing makes them bendable. This makes it simple to light even curved walkways or bend around posts.

There are many accessories available for those who want to use these string lights outdoors. Dimmers and timers make it easier to save electricity while making sure the lights are on when needed. Setting the timer ensures the lights are on at dusk and turn off at dawn. Dimmers are useful to create an intimate setting, or other effects.

Colors of the Rainbow
LED rope lights are available in more colors than the basic white. Strands are available in red, green, or blue as well. A person can purchase strands that are only one color or multiple colors. Holiday versions can sometimes be seen in orange, depending on the season.

Some lights come programmed with special effects, such as chasing or blinking. If these lights are sold as holiday lights, they may be programmable to alter patterns for a stunning effect. This makes holiday decorating easy indoors or outdoors.
